Classroom Makeover...

Well kind of...maybe I should say classroom update!?!? I needed to re-arrange to create some wall space in order to implement Cafe this year and let the owls join in the fun, and I'm all glitter and giggles with the results! The owl tree turned out just fab! I was also in need of a new guided reading table so Misty and I headed to Ikea.  My previous table just took up too much room.  I'm not sure how much I'll like the new table, but it looks sooo much better.  Check out some of my new glitter...

  1. love your room. It's gorgeous. I'm totally inspired to make some of my own canvas prints. For my bachelorette party we painted our own pictures and I have some canvases left. This would be the perfect thing to do. Thanks for inspiration.

  38. I just have to say that I LOVE your site. I am a former 1st grade teacher and I just love your ideas. As I was searching the web...I found this cute pillow pattern. I think it would be super easy to just add some owls to a couple of your reading pillows...just an idea.

  39. Awww...you all are the best bucket fillers!!

The tree wasn't hard at all! Our lounge is stocked with bulletin board paper in several colors so I just grabbed the roll of brown and my stapler. I twisted the sections to the sizes that I needed and stapled any flat parts to the wall stapling in the shape that I wanted.

For my fancy words board, I have collected pink boa from both Hobby Lobby and Michaels depending on which has a coupon or sale.

If you're interested in the behvior chart, make sure that you follow the link to 3rd Grade's a Hoot she has linked a set of instructions for this particular chart. This will be my first year to use this system where students can move both up and down. Students begin the day on Ready To Learn.

The owls on the tree are clipart that are enlarged, printed, laminated, and cut out to add to the branches.

@Rachael - Very cute!! I love it. Thanks.

Happy decorating everyone! So giggly to have you all here.

  40. Your blog is HEAVEN!!!! Your color scheme is exactly what I was thinking! A few questions. Did you print everything out on cardstock (owls, behavior chart, etc) or any special kind of paper. Just making sure so that I get the vibrant colors that you have. Also the owls from JW Illustrations, did you purchase the Hoot! Hoot!? Just want to make sure I purchase the right thing first!

Thanks so much! Your room looks amazing and your first graders are going to LOVE IT!
