Gameboards Galore with a Freebie

This year we've introduced Daily 5 and I'm loving it.  It's not perfection but I really enjoy it more than creating stations every other week.  I was inspired to create a set of gameboards for my firsties to use during work on words.  The gameboards are blank and my kiddos use dice, game markers, and their individualized word rings to play. Y'all they have been RUNNING to grab a gameboard when it's time for work on words!! In my previous post I talked about doing Abby's Oz unit...my Oz board was the first gameboard that I introduced to them. They fell in love and so did I.  It was actually a word wall review week so I just plugged in our words for that six weeks and had an instant review game. Easy Peasy!! Just fabulous!!!

Gameboard themes include Wizard of Oz, Smurf themed, Wonka/candy, Peter Pan, Superhero, owl, Paris, cowboy, and pirate. So much fun!

Visit my TPT store to get your set! Even better, click HERE to get a free galaxy themed gameboard! Check it out!
I hope you get as much use out of these as I already have.  I even made an owl board for my kindergarten cutie to practice her word wall words and number recognition at home.  She is fired up to do homework! Oh my...giggles!!

  2. Hi! I found your blog through pinterest. I'm a little confused. Hoe exactly do they use the game boards? How do they play with a blank board?

  3. Hi Erin. I'm so glad that you stopped by! As mentioned above, my students use their own individualized word rings. They actually use their word rings for all of their work on words activities. Here's how it works. We have a parent come in every other Friday and test students on both word wall words and the Fry's List. Any word that a student cannot read on sight is added to their word ring. They keep about 15-20 words on their rings. To play, both students take out their word rings (picture above). The first player rolls and moves the appropriate number of spaces. They flip to the next card on their word ring. If they can read the word (partner checks) they can stay on their space. If the word is read incorrectly or they struggle, they go back to the previous space. The second player rolls and uses words from their own stack. Another option is to laminate the gameboards and use a dry erase to write whatever skill you'd like them to practice/play. Long vowels, vocabulary, and even math facts are a few of the activities I've used dry erase and the gameboards to practice. That way they can just be cleaned and re-used. I hope that this is helpful. Just let me know if you need any more information! We have so much fun with these!

  10. LOVE these.

I'm just about to start teaching 2nd (taught 6th last year), so I'm still trying to get things in order and understanding them.

I see you have your games (super cute, btw!), but you also have some instructions. Do you mind explaining waht the instructions are or how you use it specifically for review??

  12. The most recent arrangement of hard drives can be important to use for the outrageous video task. Be that as it may, in the current occasions, they've commonly unwanted, particularly for the lightweight or light PCs. The PC is planned with a sharp and smooth bends that make it more significant on the lookout. BFG An ideal and dependable SSD, ought to have to bring to the table speedier exhibition on every business task instead of this hard drive can run and perform gradually. The two of them work contrastingly and have their own qualities on the framework.
